I originally was not in HRMT when I fist started Auburn. I have always had passion for serving and culinary, and when I entered into my second semester of my Sophomore year, I soon realized I did not want a typical 7-5 desk job. Therefore, I changed my major to HRMT. I love experiencing new things as within the Hospitality field everyday is exciting, new, and different.

When I came to Auburn I wasn't original a HRMT major. I was a pre-nursing major my entire freshman year. The summer before my sophomore year I decide that pre-nursing just wasn't for me and I needed to make a change. After looking at other majors and talking to some of my older friends at Auburn, I decided I would give HRMT a try. It was the best decision that I have ever made for myself. Since entering the program, I have fallen in love with the major and have had so many opportunities through it that I know I couldn't have gotten anywhere else.

I chose Hotel and Restaurant Management as my major because I can utilize my passion for serving others in the hospitality industry. I am attracted to working in this industry because I want to work as an event manager and in catering services. I would love the opportunity to go to culinary school, while gaining the experience with planning events. I want to see both sides of the industry and work in both. I am very excited about the opportunities the hospitality offers and the wide variety of career choices. I work well in groups, enjoy leading, and serving to the best of my ability.

I chose to be a Hotel and Restaurant Management major because my passion is to make people happy. I believe that working in the hospitality field is the place to be, to be able to make an impact on people’s life on a daily basis. I also chose to be a HRMT major because this industry is constantly growing and I believe it will be such a great experience to be a part of it.

I joined the HRMT program at Auburn University because the hospitality business is one of the most exciting careers. I want a fast pace career that is always changing and keeps me intrigued. I knew I was in the right place when I saw how willing all the teachers were to help out. I have learned so many valuable things from learning how to cook to becoming a manager. I know when I graduate I will have a great understanding of what all goes into the hospitality career and will be ready to succeed at whatever I do.
