When I began college at Auburn University, I did not know that Hospitality is what I wanted to do. I had been working in a Hospitality-related job since the age of 16 but did not consider the industry as a career choice. During my first few years of school I held a job as a waitress and a banquet server and through this I accidentally fell in love with Hospitality. What I came to appreciate about it was the power that it had to join people together. I became interested in how to define quality service. I think the thing that I most enjoy about Hospitality is that on a universal level people from different cultures and across language barriers want to be engaged and to have an experience. We are in the business of selling memories. When this job is done well through hard work and dedication, there is no greater satisfaction to me. It has also affected the way that I treat people in everyday life. It has made me appreciate small acts of kindness that I did not notice before. I appreciate what being in the service industry has done for my character. The success that i would like for my career is to have a positive impact on those I come in contact with.

When I was growing up I always knew that I wanted to go to Auburn, I just did not know what I wanted to do once I got here. One semester and many major changes later I found my home in the College of Human Sciences and the Hotel and Restaurant Management program. It should have been obvious to me, after all I have had a love affair with one hometown resort for years! I am excited for my life after Auburn but I am going to miss the University that I have grown to love and the town I now call home.

I have been a student in the HRMT Program at Auburn University since the Spring of 2011. It was then, after serving as a committee member for Auburn's University Program Council, that I realized I had a passion for serving people and wanted to work in the hospitality industry. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a career in event and catering sales management. I am confident that Auburn's HRMT Program has provided me with the necessary skills to be successful in this industry.

I chose hospitality because I've always enjoyed planning and organizing everything I have been involved with. My goal upon entering the major was to be a wedding planner, but I knew if that changed that I would still be able to find a career that I loved. Not only do I enjoy planning, but I also enjoy meeting and working with people so hospitality was a perfect fit for me. I have since changed my focus to a career in collegiate sports in event management, but I know that my degree will still be just as beneficial and I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful program.

Throughout my college career, and attempting many other majors, I feel that I have a calling in Hospitality Management.  I have been working in restaurants since the age of 16, when my parents decided to open their own restaurant.  It was then that I learned that I have a niche for wanting to serve others and ensure happiness among guests. Post graduation, I plan on pursuing a career in Event Management.  With this career path, I hope to make dreams come true for others, as well as provide them an experience that will make them come back for more.
