I joined the HRMT Program at Auburn University in the Spring of 2011. After working in a restaurant for three years and having some background in the hospitality industry, I figured this major would be perfect for me. There are many and exciting opportunities that this program has to offer and everyone's passion for hospitality is truly inspiring. War Eagle!
The hospitality industry is a growing industry with many unique and exciting opportunities. I love to serve people and love making people happy. I have loved being in the HRMT program at Auburn University and have met some amazing people along the way.
Going to an event is fun, but planning an event, the energy, the excitement and interacting with people, is what I loved most. I started college in graphics design, but slowly found myself pulled to the hospitality field. Now in my senior year, I know I have made the right choice. My passion for food and wine combined with my zeal for planning events has lead me to the field of hospitality, and a degree from Auburn’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Hotel and Restaurant Management was attractive to me because I have always been a people person, I love making people happy and making sure they have a good time, so naturally the service industry attracted me quite quickly and fully. It doesn't hurt that there are almost endless opportunities in the field as well, it is quite easily the best decision I have ever made, I cannot wait to see where else this career will lead me.
My journey to HRMT began with me changing my major four times between my freshman and junior years. When I found myself unhappy in my fourth major, I discovered the HRMT program and decided it was a perfect fit for me. The program is great because we are like a big family and because the professors all have experience to supplement what they teach in the classroom. Auburn’s HRMT program has built upon my natural desire to serve and make others happy by providing me with knowledge about the industry, and I cannot wait to see where it takes me in the future!
