Through my high school leadership positions, I discovered my characteristics and researched what career path those attributes would be good for. From there on hospitality was always on my mind as the industry that I wanted to have a career in. Once I arrived at Auburn University, I began researching the HRMT Program and I can still remember how excited I felt when I changed my major from undecided to HRMT. When I graduate I want to go into event management and I know that because of HRMT I will be very well prepared to enter into the hospitality industry.
When I first started at Auburn University I was unsure of what I would major in, but the Southern Hospitality I encountered upon my first visit was part of what led me to enroll here. After changing majors several times, I was lucky enough to find the HRMT program and almost immediately I knew it was the perfect fit for me because it combined my love of food and beverage, people, and travel. Another reason I love the hospitality industry is because of its dynamic nature and that it always allows for further growth and knowledge. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to participate in the HRMT program and for the experiences I have had during my time here.
When I entered the Hotel & Restaurant Management Program at Auburn University, I was very undecided on my future profession. After completing a number of different courses at the Auburn Hotel, I found my passion for cooking and serving individuals. Upon graduation I plan on attending Culinary School where I can further my culinary education. I believe that the Hotel & Restaurant Management Program and Professors have prepared me for my future endeavors as a leader in my industry. WAR EAGLE!
I became a student in the HRMT program because this major is all about service. I have always loved to serve others and getting to see the looks of happiness and satisfaction on anyone’s face. Here at Auburn our HRMT program is so passionate about service, I believe this was the perfect fit for me. I know in the near future I will be well prepared to take on many things in this amazing industry and I cannot wait to see what is to come.
